Vinik-Cascade team reveals conceptual design for Water Street Tampa (Renderings)

Strategic Property Partners has revealed the conceptual design of the first phase of its mixed-use district — and it’s essentially a new, tree-lined city between the Channel district waterfront and the central business district.

SPP, the real estate holding company controlled by Tampa Bay Lightning owner Jeff Vinik and Cascade Investment LLC, on Tuesday rolled out a fly-through video and conceptual images of Water Street, which is slated to break ground in early 2018.

“From bike paths and lush green spaces, to specially-curated shopping and culinary experiences that will line the streets, to music and entertainment venues, to museums and educational institutions and more, Water Street Tampa will bring distinctive community and pedestrian-oriented design to downtown Tampa,” SPP said in a statement.

It is the most significant visual update SPP has provided on the district to date. This summer has brought several major milestones for the district, plans for which were first revealed in late 2014. SPP is moving closer to demolishing a portion of Channelside Bay Plaza, opening up a portion of that property to the downtown waterfront. In late June, the developer revealed the district’s name and before-and-after renderings of Tampa’s skyline.

Click through the images and watch the video below to see the design details.

SPP has tapped a mix of local and new-to-market architects for the design:

  • CookFox Architects: Two buildings; office and residential over retail
  • Morris Adjmi Architects: Three buildings; 157-key, five-star hotel, luxury condominiums, apartments and retail
  • Olson Kundig: One building; office over retail
  • Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates: Two buildings; condominiums and apartments over retail
  • Gensler: Two buildings; office over retail
  • Alfonso Architects: Redevelopment vision for Channelside; residential and waterfront retail, and a new public park on the Riverwalk
  • Nichols Brosch Wurst Wolfe & Associates: One building; 500-key, four-star hotel
  • Pickard Chilton: Three buildings; office and residential over retail
  • Baker Barrios: One building; central cooling facility and infrastructure
  • HOK: University of South Florida’s Morsani College of Medicine and Health Heart Institute, which begins construction this fall

Interiors

  • Roman & Williams: Interior design for the new five-star hotel and associated condominiums, in a building designed by Morris Adjmi
  • Cecconi Simone: Interiors for the condominium and apartment residences in the buildings designed by KPF
  • Champalimaud: Interiors for the new four-star hotel designed by NBWW

For CookFox Architects, Morris Adjmi Architects, Olson Kundig, Kohn Pederson Fox Associates, and Pickard Chilton, Water Street marks their first projects in Tampa, according to SPP.
